The Secret to Creativity

There’s a concept that dates back to the time of early man, in which a person learns over a period of time the techniques used to get to a certain point of expertise. It’s called an apprenticeship. A person simply doesn’t pick up a hammer one day and declares themselves a blacksmith the next. Does a master blacksmith know some secret techniques to achieve certain results? Yes, a master probably does.

Stereoscopy – An Actual 3D Sense of Depth and Perception

Introduction Those of us in the field of 3D often use the term “3D” very loosely – when artists often refer to the term, we typically mean to discuss a 2D image that has a more realistic perspective (lighting, shadows, and angles) that would be representative of a standard photograph. Just like our standard “3D […]

Colorized Boulevard du Temple by Daguerre

I had some free time tonight and came across an article regarding the first known photograph of a human by Daguerre. Curiosity got the best of me, so I decided that I’d take a look and see if I encounter anyone else in the image. As I looked, I quickly realized that I would have to clean-up this image and make some further adjustments to reveal more detail. What I ended up with was a colorized version of this Daguerreotype.

Windows Hard Drive Speed Hacks

Recently, I had to a build a new file server for my home office and noticed slow file transfer speeds across the network. I’m running a gigabit switch with most of the latest gear. In my case, the main factor in file transfer slow downs are actually a result of hard drive speeds and not […]

MightyFunk Design News

I decided late last week to revise a website that I had lying around for some time and more or less finished it today. Years ago, I had created LunarLog to be the LunarStudio blog. Instead of blogging on-topic, I found myself over time writing miscellaneous pieces and posts. I decided that I needed a […]

My iPad Review

Background Story I finally got my hands on an actual base-model iPad yesterday. I was going to mention it but waited because I didn’t want to come off as bragging. Plus, I wanted to give myself some time before jumping to any conclusions. I didn’t pre-order one so I had to drive out early to […]

Setting up a WordPress Blog Part II

Advanced Fabrication

I mentioned a while back that I was taking a company to court – Advanced Fabrication now called Coffee Shop Experts also known as Coffee Cart Biz for refusing to pay for work that I had done. I have a clause in all of my contracts that if it is broken, I retain all rights […]

Websites Transferred

I just wanted to make note that I transferred this website, LunarStudio, and another blog over to MediaTemple over the course of the last two days. There’s been a significant increase in performance and speed – I think over 300% in the case of LunarStudio. It’s a bit of a nail-biting experience when it comes […]

Transferring Servers

In between all of my art-related projects, I’ve been working on two other websites that’s still under wraps. I’ve discovered a lot of techniques recently (both WordPress and server-related) that should speed upload times and responsiveness of the pages being served. Unfortunately, I haven’t had the time to implement these tricks on this website. I’ll […]
